The Temper Trap w/The Neighbourhood

LIGHTNING 100.1 PRESENT

Nashville Scene Critic's Pick …

Remember the scene in 500 Days of Summer when all the critical Zooey Deschanel/Joseph Gordon-Levitt flirtations flash by in what can only be called a “cuteness montage”? Remember The Temper Trap’s “Sweet Disposition,” and how it made every moment JGL spends being wrapped around ZD’s beguiling little finger a purely endearing exchange? That song transformed the whole scene, and it’s all thanks to four rockers from London via Melbourne. Similarly, “Sweet Disposition” transformed The Temper Trap’s career in 2009, taking them from flash-in-the-pan status to straight-up grease fire. With the recent self-titled release on Glassnote Records, the band continues to use their signature sound of vintage keyboards (including a crappy Casiotone), dubby guitars and uplifting washes, creating nuanced, epic pop that doesn’t quite sound Australian, British or American. Crispy indie-rockers The Neighbourhood will play a short opening set.
