Silversun Pickups w/Cloud Nothings & Atlas Genius

National Shows 2 Presents

Nashville Scene Critic's Pick …

Something in the Ohio waters must breed melodic lo-fi wizardry. From the tradition of The Mice in the ’80s, Guided By Voices in the ’90s, and Times New Viking most recently, comes Cloud Nothings, the nom de plume of college-age Clevelander Dylan Baldi. Cloud Nothings emerged from his parents’ basement with 2010’s Turning On, and in three short years has graduated from DIY cassette circuit to Pitchfork elite, thereby cementing his place in the Buckeye State guitar-rock pantheon. 2011’s breakneck Cloud Nothings showcased his gift for creating wide-eyed mini-anthems with equal parts C86 jangle and downstroked punk-rock fury. Accompanying videos played like an alternate-universe Adventures of Pete and Pete set in rust-belt suburbia. The jury’s still out on Cloud Nothings’ 2012 full-band debut Attack on Memory, with its ambitious eight-minute songs and weighty Steve Albini production, but that hasn’t kept Baldi from enjoying a wave of prolificacy that’d make GBV’s Robert Pollard proud. Playing with Silversun Pickups and Atlas Genius.
