Stardeath and White Dwarfs w/New Fumes, Linear Downfall & Space Face

Alternative
Nashville Scene Critic's Pick …

You could be forgiven for thinking this show somewhat nepotistic, as much of the bill is separated from The Flaming Lips by a very few degrees. Dennis Coyne, of headliner Stardeath and White Dwarfs, is nephew to Wayne Coyne, the Lips’ high priest of the brain melt; Nashvillians Linear Downfall are Wayne Coyne protégés who worked on their new LP Fragmental Hippocampus under his direction; Daniel Huffman, who performs as New Fumes, was a featured artist on the Lips’ 2012 collab record Heady Fwends. Though there are some definite parallels, none of the groups are sound-alikes of the elder band. What they do share in spades is the infectious enthusiasm for celebrating all things weird that permeates The Flaming Lips’ best work. With or without special appearances by Wayne Coyne or Nashville’s favorite glam-trash party starter Ke$ha (also a featured guest on Fwends), the night is sure to include a video and light show, possibly some confetti and/or glitter explosions, and maybe even a cover of King Crimson’s “21st Century Schizoid Man.”  Florida electronic producer Space Face opens the show.
