Born and raised in Toronto, Canada, Hetti-Marie always knew that she wanted to sing. “I can remember the day I got my first cassette player. I was so thrilled that I could record my voice that I would rewind and playback so I could harmonize with myself.”
What began as singing in school talent shows and choirs, quickly led to solo performances and eventually leading a band in front of thousands of people. But the fear of not succeeding as an artist put Hetti-Marie’s music career temporarily on hold. She spent three years as an elementary school teacher, where she cultivated a love for children. But even during that time, she couldn’t shake her passion for singing and finally decided to relentlessly pursue her dream and encourage young people to do the same.
It was that life lesson of freedom from fear that became the premise for her first recording. In 2004, she launched her debut album in Canada entitled, “Truth” with indie label More Than Music Enterprise.
