Hail, Satan! May the Dark Lord bless us and keep us … on the tour itinerary of all these awesome metal bands. While we’re not exactly sure if The Supreme Evil had a hand in this particular show, it sure seems like the Dark Prince has been pulling some strings to get his minions out to the club lately. Ya know, when it’s raining blood, it pours, and we just want to jump around in the puddles. And wherever Arkansas sludge outfit Rwake goes, you can expect plenty of puddles — their 2011 album Rest has been in heavy rotation at all of our coven meetings for the past year. (And by “coven meetings” we mean “nights we spend drinking alone in a darkened room with nothing but our dark, twisted thoughts.”) Rwake is joined by Cookeville’s reigning ambassadors of brutality Hellbender, whose latest album Pyre Tapes Volume 5 journeys into ambient/space-rock territory that’s as satisfying as it is surprising.
