“As a band we try to make music that plays to the honesty of our songs. Blues, rock and a retro vibe are standards to the music we have created so far. We are always searching for new influences into fresh genres and opportunities to grow musically as a band.”
The Cultivation formed in the summer of 2012. Bassist Jay Averitt and drummer Tony Thompson met while working at the same restaurant. At the same time Kevin Martin and Emerson Wells met at work and began collaborating and writing music together. Tony eventually met Kevin and Emerson, and the three decided to collaborate and practice songs and create new ones at Tony’s house in East Nashville. An immediate spark grew and the need for a bassist was met when Tony invited Jay to a practice session. In a very short period of time, the band decided to search for a studio to record their E.P. East Side Manor was chosen and after three full days of tracking, an E.P. was created. The band is pursuing live venues and creating a fan base for music they like to call “fun rock n’ roll“.
