In 1994, at age 9, Robert was uprooted from the quaint fishing town of Gloucester, Massachusetts and moved to the music capitol of the world, Nashville, Tennessee, in order for his father to pursue a career in music. With Robert’s roots growing deep within southern soil and the inescapable presence of music, it was not long before the passion and pursuit was not just his fathers, but his own.
Robert’s ability to teach himself to play various instruments could be considered natural talent but those closest to him saw it as a gift. By the time he was 10 years old, Robert had endured 2 brain surgeries to remove an optic nerve tumor. It was not until his teens that Robert was officially diagnosed with Neurofibromatosis Type 2, a genetic disorder that affects only 1 in 30,000 people. Those with this rare disorder, more simply known as NF2, commonly suffer hearing and vision loss, and Robert is no exception.
