Berlin Philharmonic Wind Quintet w/Blair Woodwind Quintet

Classical
Nashville Scene Critic's Pick …

Members of the prestigious Berlin Philharmonic Wind Quintet are making a habit out of appearing at the Blair School of Music. The ensemble has presented two concerts at the conservatory in as many years. This season, the group is doing things a bit differently — instead of playing as part of a quintet, the Berliners will conduct and solo with various Vanderbilt ensembles. Berlin oboist Andreas Wittman will lead the Vanderbilt Wind Symphony in Mendelssohn’s Overture for Winds, Op. 24, while clarinetist Walter Seyfarth solos in Carl Maria von Weber’s Concertino for Clarinet. Flutist Michael Hasel will conduct the Vanderbilt University Orchestra in Brahms’ Tragic Overture.
