Hurts to Laugh is the Nashville, Tennessee based surf metal duo waging stoner jihad in the rhinestone buckle of the Bible Belt. Emboldened by the success of their single and music video for ’I Tried’, Cliff Cobain and Kurt Burton embarked on cross-country joy rides of epic proportions. Spanning a total of two months, the band won fans in San Francisco, Albuquerque, and Austin by sleeping on couches, blogging countless hours of tour footage, and setting their cymbals on fire. In St Louis they caught the interest of publicist Nicole Madden who passed a demo of their most recently recorded songs to I Hate Punk Rock Records. The band’s second album, music video, and contribution to the label’s annual compilation is due out mid-summer.

Deep Machine is breaking musical ground with their blend of rock and electronic fusion. Their combination of melodic guitar riffs and driving synth countermelodies infused with groovy alien time signatures has been pushing new boundaries since late 2010. In that short amount of time, Deep Machine has become tight and well greased, while honing their live show into an incredible experience that is sure to stay with you. Deep Machine is a four-piece, experimental rock outfit instilled with electronic undertones. Formed during college at MTSU in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, the band began getting attention within just a few short months after their conception. We're a five-piece rock outfit out of Nashville, TN. We're originally from the small town of Port Angeles, Washington (with the exception of a Miami native). With three albums and a couple years of grassroots touring under our belts, we moved down to Nashville in the fall of 2010 to see what musical fate awaited us there.

Tiring of traditional debauchery, the group united over a number of demo tapes Conor had brought from Olympia, WA and retired to a secluded lair. The rest is Kin Ship. Drawing upon influences ranging from Nilsson to The Kinks and back again, Kin Ship is a last cigarette, a first kiss and what you miss about your father’s record collection. Rock and Roll in the truest sense, this is the soundtrack to the best summer of your life.
