Holland Marie is no stranger to the stage. She has been performing in front of audiences since the age of ten. Holland got her start performing at a local talent competition near her hometown in Smithfield, North Carolina, taking home first place the very first time she hit the stage. She was instantly addicted to the applause and started on her journey to become a successful artist. She began singing in the Johnston Community College Country Music Showcase regularly, and became a very busy young lady, singing at local fairs, festivals, and variety shows. Among these shows was The North Carolina Country Music Connection, where Holland co-hosted the show with American idol runner up, Clay Aiken, at the age of 14.
Next on Holland's priority list was to begin performing more, and that is just what she did. She signed up for the Colgate Country Music Showdown, taking home the state title in 2000 and again in 2004. Holland would go on to win numerous other awards and honors in a very short time. While performing in her first year of the Colgate competitions, Holland was introduced to a high energy singing and dancing group known as "High Steppin' Country", based in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She auditioned and was accepted, packed her bags, and spent the summer dancing, singing, and enjoying the music. Around that time, Fox 50 was holding open calls for a new local cable TV show called "Gimme The Mic" in 2006. 1,600 people came out to do a 35 second audition and, of course, Holland was among them. She won over the judges with her version of "When A Man Loves A Woman" and was one of the twenty performers they picked to join the show. After winning the semi-final round, Holland went on to take home the grand prize as winner.
After that success, Holland kicked her music into an even higher gear, and began auditioning band members. Soon enough, she was playing local venues and benefits weekly, making a name for herself with her own band. She impressed the crowds with her powerhouse vocals and her energetic stage show. After playing with her band "Johnston County Line" for 2 years, she decided it was time to follow her dream to Nashville where she is quickly making a name for herself in Music City.
