The Bar-Kays began their career in the mid-60s as the house band for Stax Records. They backed many of Stax artists most notably Otis Redding and Isaac Hayes. For more than 40 years The Bar-Kays have been a powerhouse of funk, R&B and soul music. The band has had dozens of chart topping singles including "Soul Finger", "Son of Shaft" and "Freakshow On The Dance Floor". The BarKays appeared in the iconic 1973 film documentary, Wattstax. In the 1985 movie Spies Like Us, starring Dan Aykroyd and Chevy Chase, The Bar-Kays' hit "Soul Finger" was the favorite song of the crew of a Soviet mobile ICBM platform on patrol in Tajikistan S.S.R. Bar-Kays songs "Too Hot To Stop" and "Soul Finger" are featured in the 2007 comedy film, Superbad.
