Sam is the lead singer of River City Gang. Gangs are groups of individuals who share a common identity. Take Richmond, Virginia’s River City Gang, for example. Formed not far from the banks of the capital city’s James River, this talented trio of musicians realized early on that their individual talents fused together on stage to create something much bigger and infinitely more meaningful. Anchored by Virginia natives Sam Hayes (lead vocals) and Brian Friedman (guitars/vocals), River City Gang came together in many ways through a mutual admiration for the music and culture they were exposed to in the rural towns around Richmond, known to locals as “River City.” Hayes grew up toiling as a teenager in the lumberyards of Yorktown, while Friedman recalls a childhood spent helping out in the family general store in historic Short Pump. The two musicians would cross paths years later through the local music scene, but it wasn’t until meeting bassist David “Phoenix” Karns that the current RCG lineup officially formed in 2011. “Sam and I grew up not too far from the James River in the towns around Richmond, and something about the small town values and history of that area really helped shape us as performers and musicians, I think,” says Friedman. “And even though David’s not from Virginia, he clicked right away with what we were doing in the band. Once we found out that he was actually raised in small town near the Mississippi River in St. Louis off of Virginia Avenue, it all kind of made sense. RCG just seems like the natural place for all of us to be.”

Artist Bio:
I n the early nineties, shortly after being awarded the designation as finalist in his high school state singing competition, Galen explains, "I went to my mom and I told her this is what I want to do for the rest of my life." It was only a few years later that Galen opened concerts for Tracy Lawrence and Tracy Byrd in the spring of '96. The 22 year old amazed fans at both concerts with his dynamic stage presence and natural ability to entertain the guys and swoon the girls. Not long after, Galen received unprecedented audience reaction when his song, "Good Girls Love Bad Boys" was played on the "G. Gordon Liddy" radio show to an audience of millions. Galen hit the road. For the next several years, he averaged over 200 performances per year, opening for many of the biggest names in country music, including Joe Diffie, "Ricochet," Michael Peterson, Montgomery Gentry, Trick Pony, Darrell Worley, John Conley, Johnny Paycheck, Rhett Atkins and Merle Haggard, and too many more to mention!! From here, Galen's path to stardom only gleams brighter: Galen is steadily becoming one of Nashville's top songwriters, with songs cut by major label acts including , Clay Walker, Luke Bryan, Larry Cordle, Joe Diffe, Matt Jenkins and Craig Morgan who included Galen's song, "I'm Country" on his My Kinda Livin' CD (2005) which garnered Galen his first GOLD Record. Galen continues to write daily with several of Nashville's elite artists, producers and writers; Chris Dubois, Don Sampson, Kerry Kurt Phillips, Bob Regan, Byron Hill, Doug Johnson, just to name a few. Galen just celebrated his first top ten hit, which went all the way to number eight on the country charts, "Country Man", by Luke Bryan, and a song "Sticks" on Craig Morgan's first RCA record. Galen is also managed by one of the biggest managers in the world Frank Dileo, who managed Micheal Jackson, during the "Thriller" and "Bad" albums years. Galen still has dreams of being an artist himself, with some of Nashville's biggest producers, Blake Chancey, Carson Chamberlin, Keith Stegall, all wanting to cut an album with him, but for know he is content writing songs until it's his chance to take the stage. "This is what I want to do for the rest of my life." Looking back, better than fifteen years since Galen spoke those words to his mother, he has achieved his dream and more; and his star is only shining brighter each day.

Toting a Martin guitar, Hali is always at the ready to sing a song. She’s been singing since she was a toddler and started playing her guitar when she was 13. With many influences throughout her young but seasoned life, she could tell you about some all-time favorite performers of hers – such as LeAnn Rimes and Dolly Parton.
