Gina Sicilia w/Colin Linden

Pop/Rock
Nashville Scene Critic's Pick …

A Toronto-born guitarist with a feel for the blues, Colin Linden has contributed hot licks to performances and recordings by Bruce Cockburn, Emmylou Harris and Alison Krauss.A Nashville resident for many years (and a semi-regular ax-wielding extra on the TV show Nashville, donning his signature black hat), Linden is a slide-guitar master — his impeccable phrasing is unmistakable. On his latest full-length, Still Live, his perfectly turned licks never overpower such tunes as “John Lennon in New Orleans.” Not a deep singer, Linden has an instinct for the way genre pieces can express pain, and he always gets his message across. He can play slide as lyrically as just about anyone you can mention — check out Still Live’s “Sugar Mine” for a demonstration of his light touch and way with a melody. He’s also a respected record producer whose long relationship with Canadian folk-rocker Cockburn has resulted in such excellent collections as 1997’s The Charity of Night.
