Tina Adair Album Release Show

Bluegrass
Nashville Scene Critic's Pick …

It’s been a long time — 15 years, give or take — since Tina Adair last made a record, and while that’s way too long to say it was worth the wait, Born Bad is a certified dandy. Adair was a fine singer back then, and she’s only gotten better since, so it’s no surprise that the vocals are top-notch, sweet when they want to be and kick-ass when they need to be. Same with the band, which includes steady bass man Forrest Goodman, coming-on-strong banjo player Sim Daley and Adair’s secret weapon, husband Tim Dishman (guitar, vocals), providing equally flexible support. But Adair’s songwriting is first-rate, too — check out the glistening “Heart I Had To Break” for an example — and that is big news. Born Bad doesn’t have the support that comes with a label release, but it would be a serious mistake to overlook it — or Adair and her outfit.
