As a child, Matt Mills grew up in Nashville, TN watching his father, Steve Dan Mills, craft songs and make records. Growing up in the studio inspired him to follow in his father’s footsteps. Being surrounded by music from such a young age, music has always come natural to Matt. By the age of 14, he was singing and playing guitar in the bands he formed while also playing gigs with his father. By the end of high school, Mills decided to attend college to study Music at Belmont University. He later transferred to Middle Tennessee State University where he graduated with a Music Business Degree with an emphasis on Recording. During college, Matt played in various bands including the progressive rock band, Pipe Dream. Mills fronted Pipedream, handling lead vocals, lead guitar and weaving intricate guitar harmonies with band mate Daniel Leonard. Pipedream played key venues and clubs in and around Nashville and made a short tour to New York City to play the renowned Sullivan Hall. Pipedream broke up in early 2010 and, Mills began writing new material for a solo project. Upon graduating college in May of 2011, Matt teamed up with producer Andrew Chapman to record his first solo EP at 16th Edge Studios. The album entitled Summer Night combines songs finely crafted from Matt’s own heartfelt experience with excellent musicianship resulting in a smooth blend of Rock, Alternative Country, and Americana which promises to inject a fresh and vital approach into the contemporary music scene.
