Forest of Tygers w/Gorgantherron, Hellbender & Black Tar Prophet

What’s in a name? That which we call hesher by any other name would still smell like weed. That’s how that saying goes, right? The one from that movie about the dude and the chick, right? Usually, we need a little bit more information to work with for our critical picking, but when the band features members of local psych-doom juggernauts Hellbender and the name is a reference to Alejandro Jodorowsky’s 1973 psychedelic masterpiece, well, we can just guess that we’re going to dig it. Team them up with Indiana’s kaiju-channeling Gorgantherron, local sludge unit Black Tar Prophets — whose new split with ATL’s Crawl is a low-end monster — and Jim Valosik of Seratonin’s new band Forest of Tygers, and you’ve got one leviathan of a Saturday night on your hands.
