Snap on 2&4 feat. Charles

Jazz
Nashville Scene Critic's Pick …

Local fans of old-school funk and soul are likely familiar with Charles “Wigg” Walker’s work as frontman for The Dynamites — since forming in 2007, this roof-rattling groove outfit, complete with a blazing horn section, has recorded two full-lengths and toured the world. It’s been an impressive rebirth for Walker, a former Chess Records artist and veteran of soul music’s ’60s and ’70s heyday who shared bills at The Apollo Theater with the likes of James Brown and Wilson Pickett. This weekend, Dynamites fans have a chance to savor Walker in a more intimate musical setting: fronting a superb organ trio featuring Hammond B3 powerhouse Charles Treadway, guitarist (and onetime Chet Atkins protegé) Pat Bergeson and drummer Pete Abbott, who’s played with everyone from Average White Band and Blood, Sweat and Tears to Tom Jones and Keb’ Mo’.
