Mozart Birthday Concert

Nashville Scene Critic's Pick …

Critic Alex Ross once downloaded all of Mozart’s music onto his iPod, and it took him the better part of a week to transfer this vast array of operas, concertos, symphonies and such. Mozart’s oeuvre, it turned out, required an astonishing 9.77 gigabytes of memory. Nashville musician Roger Wiesmeyer is slowly working his way through Mozart’s miraculous output. Every January for the past decade, he’s marked the composer’s birthday with a benefit concert. For the 11th annual event, Wiesmeyer will solo in the Piano Concerto No. 17 in G major, K. 453. Wiesmeyer and pianist Francoise Pierredon will also perform the four-hand Sonata in F major, K. 497. This year’s concert will be streamed on stageit.com, but people who attend the live event in person will be served birthday cake.
