Doldrums w/AGOR & Vitek

Hide & Seek Entertainment Presents

Pop/Rock
Nashville Scene Critic's Pick …

For several years, the bustling electronic pop scene in Montreal has fostered a diverse group of acts who successfully synthesize pop formats and art-house styles. One of its biggest names is witch-house diva Grimes, who is also possibly the most vocal advocate of 23-year-old Airick Woodhead, weaver of a disorienting electronic crazy quilt in his work as Doldrums. At first, the sounds of his new LP, Lesser Evil, seem a little harsh, like pieces of a shattered mirror built into a nest by a strange bird, but they are a perfect fit considering his stated purpose is disrupting the blinking, jiving, 24/7 world. Ultimately, Woodhead’s variety and invention keep the album catchy and engaging, even if sometimes all you can do is hold on to the shifting rhythms while he decides where to take you next. Doldrums’ cerebral supernova of sound comes to life with help from a full band, and will be aided and abetted on this tour by labelmate Agor, also known as Blue Hawaii’s Alex Cowan. Local avant-pop ensemble Vitek will kick things off with blast of their signature full-voiced, soul-tinged experimentation.
