Left Lane Cruiser w/Rhythm Kitchen & Funeral Suits

Pop/Rock
Nashville Scene Critic's Pick …

Fire-bombing the blues has been the mission of slide guitarist Joe Evans and drummer Brenn Beck, aka Left Lane Cruiser, for nearly a decade. Driving vehicles held together by sheer luck, they’ve left a trail of five albums and scores of incendiary concerts in their wake as they’ve traveled the U.S. and Europe in semiregular forays from their Fort Wayne, Ind., base. Their sonic explosions, fueled by a distillate of Fred McDowell and Black Flag, have helped detonate the Deep Blues underground, a musical movement that draws on the wellspring of traditional Mississippi music and laces it with modernist moonshine and mushrooms. Their last scheduled Nashville show was derailed by brake failure, so this is Left Lane Cruiser’s first local pitstop since the release of 2012’s raucous, rambling Painkillers, a collaboration with fellow Deep Blues instigator and Black Diamond Heavies frontman James Leg. Funeral Suits and Rhythm Kitchen open.
