Down w/Mount Carmel & Honky

Pop/Rock
Nashville Scene Critic's Pick …

Yes, this is supposed to be a preview for New Orleans metal legends Down — but can we please just talk about lead singer and towering-inferno-of-all-things-brutal Phil Anselmo's new solo record? The first single from the former Pantera singer's new project, Phillip H. Anselmo & The Illegals, dropped on Rolling Stone’s websitea couple of weeks ago, and we're not entirely sure how we feel about it. It's cool, but maybe not the coolest thing the dude has ever done. We probably need to hear the full album — with a full bong — to really make the call. What we do know, however, is that Down never disappoints onstage, and we are going to rage so hard you would never know it was a Tuesday. And as this may be Down's last time through town for at least a record cycle, we're going to rage double-extra hard. Mount Carmel and Honky also appear.
