2013 Music Night on Edgehill feat. Shooter Jennings & Gabe DixonPop/Rock
In its nearly 90-year history, The University School of Nashville has yielded quite a pedigree of internationally known Music City ambassadors. The Everly Brothers, guitar whiz William Tyler, members of JEFF the Brotherhood, singer-songwriter (and BMI president and CEO) Del Bryant, Ben Folds drummer Sam Smith, and brother-sister piano-violin duo William and Kate Ransom are among the school’s distinguished alumni. A couple of other graduates of note — country-rocker Shooter Jennings (class of ’97) and piano-pop-smith Gabe Dixon (class of ’96) — head up this fundraiser for their alma mater, which will also boast a bourbon tasting by Nelson’s Green Brier Distllery, craft beer courtesy of Blackstone Brewery and good eats from The Food Company. Jennings’ all-star backing band, which will include Black Crowes drummer Steve Gorman and famed Rolling Stones saxophonist Bobby Keys, will surely add some grit and swagger to this sure-to-be-classy affair.
