Chrome Pony w/Behold the Brave & Faux FerociousPop/Rock
Rather than adhering to the Keys-Stripes model of loose and stomping blues rock, or the JEFF the Brotherhood model of sludgy psychedelic stoner pop, brothers Tyler and Kyle Davis of Chrome Pony do their own thing — at least as far as guitar-and-drums rock ’n’ roll duos are concerned. Their brand-new debut LP Lazy Bones — released March 5 by local indie collective Blacktooth — features auxiliary contributions from members of Fly Golden Eagle, Clear Plastic Masks and Majestico, but at the center of it all is a core of urgent, power-poppy rock ’n’ roll brought to you by the Davis Bros. Littered with frenzied riffs and obstreperous drum fills, Lazy Bones is actually anything but lazy, landing somewhere between the nervy punk rock of Buzzcocks and the overdriven, fuzzed-out rock ’n’ roll of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. Tonight at The Stone Fox, Chrome Pony will unofficially celebrate the release of Bones; Chattanooga’s Behold the Brave will appear in support.
