Attention must be paid. Somehow conspiracy theorists missed the most curiously uncanny (or at least most ironic) coincidence surrounding the 2010 Nashville Flood: That it struck mere hours after Jimmy “Surf and Turf” Buffett’s Under the Big Top Tour’s Nashville stop wrapped up at Bridgestone Arena. That’s right, Mr. Margaritaville was giving 15,000-plus beach-ball-brandishing Music City Parrotheads license to chill, strutting across the stage like a landshark and singing about volcanoes and cheeseburgers in paradise, while conditions outside were anything but paradisiacal. Luckily, when the Bruce Springsteen of Board Shorts and his trusty Coral Reefer Band returned to the arena a year later, ensuing disasters were only musical in nature. Whether it storms tonight or not, one thing is certain: Margaritaville will be packed.
