Eric Brace and Peter Cooper Album ReleaseBluegrass
Eric Brace and Peter Cooper knew exactly what they were doing when they took a descriptor that’s the bane of a once-hot recording artist’s existence and made it the title of their new dozen-song set, The Comeback Album. They’re witty like that. They were savvy, too, when they spiced up an already solid lineup of players with a few living legends: bluegrass and pop singer Mac Wiseman, rock twanger Duane Eddy and steel guitarist Lloyd Green. They’re historically knowledgeable and well-connected like that. Best of all, for those who catch their shows and listen to their folk-country singer-songwriter male duet albums (including this new one on East Nashville-based indie Red Beet Records), they know how to charm chuckles from an audience with extremely clever story-songs, character sketches, topical tunes (“Ponzi Scheme” is a good place to start) and stage banter to boot. They’re total-package, old-school entertainers like that.
