Tin Pan South Presents: Greg Barnhill, Gary Nicholson, Lee Roy Parnell, & Mike ReidSinger-Songwriter
In its 21st year, Tin Pan South again gathers some of the most gifted storytellers in combinations you’d be hard-pressed to find anywhere else. The players on tonight’s Rutledge bill have enough stories between them to fill a dozen albums, having toured on their own and as sidemen with acts ranging from Kinky Friedman to The Nazz. Mike Reid is the only NFL player ever to have songs cut by multiple chart-topping country artists, or to have a composition performed at the Kennedy Center. Gary Nicholson spent the ’70s and early ’80s as a touring guitarist for top country acts like Bobby Bare before a 30-year string of songwriting hits. Lee Roy Parnell has mastered local styles from Nashville to Austin to Muscle Shoals, blending them all into a righteous brew served bubbling from his signature model Les Paul. Topping it off is New Orleans native Greg Barnhill, a first-call session vocalist and an Emmy-winning television composer.
