Buffalo Clover w/Roy Ira & Lindi Ortega
There are those who maintain that due to the ever-present influence of the church, the best soul music has always come from the South. Whether you agree with that or not, the Southern soul that inspires Buffalo Clover has anointed them with a passion that’s prompted the group to spread the good news of rock ’n’ roll as far away as the U.K., and led them into collaborations between front lady Margo Price and Alabama Shakes’ Brittany Howard, among others. Topping the bill tonight is Roy Ira, a band that draws on the Brill Building as much as Music Row and Bakersfield on its debut full-length, Still Be My Love. Featuring the vocal talents of leader Keith Parrish and Jen Trail in equal measure, the album explores the full spectrum of life with hopes for good fortune, courage to handle bad luck, and the sense of humor necessary to appreciate the difference.
