Hollis Hampton-Jones w/Ryan Norris at Grimey's Too
Hollis Hampton-Jones is a Nashville-based author whose previous novel, "Vicious Spring" was called ""a little bit American Beauty, a little bit Catcher In The Rye for crueler times" by The Observer. Her latest novel "Comes The Night" also comes with a twist. British literary magazine Five Dials is releasing its first-ever vinyl record and it's a 10" dub remix of Hampton-Jones' novel "Comes The Night". "For this one-off audio experiment, Hollis is backed by Ryan Norris, a member of the Nashville-based band Lambchop. The result is a swirling, moody epic, cut with static, with a fugitive melody or two smuggled into the mix by producer Roger Moutenot, who has previously worked with luminaries such as Yo La Tengo, Lou Reed, even Run-DMC. Audio books have never sounded quite like this." --British publisher Hamish Hamilton. On the flip-side of the record is an exclusive remix of the Lambchop song "Gone Tomorrow". This piece is exclusive to the UK, except for this Thursday at Howlin' Books! We'll have a limited number of the 10"s and copies of Hollis' novel "Comes The Night". Hollis and Ryan Norris will perform their piece from the record live and Hampton-Jones will read from her novel and take questions afterward. Please join us for this special event, the first of its kind, at Howlin' Books | Grimey's Too.
