Frampton's Guitar Circus w/Peter Frampton & Robert Cray
Nashville Scene Critic's Pick …
If anyone can deliver the on the promise of pure joy in a rock concert, it’s Peter Frampton, who recently celebrated the 35th anniversary of his multiplatinum selling genre-definer Frampton Comes Alive! The Guitar Circus pairs Frampton’s tasteful rock chops and iconic use of the talk-box effect with Robert Cray, a disciple of Albert Collins who carried the electric blues into a new era with his Grammy-winning ’80s recordings. That bill alone is worth the ticket, but each stop on Frampton's tour features special guests who’ve left their own mark on the popular definition of electric guitar, and their visit to the Mother Church boasts two of the best. Nashville institution Vince Gill is a true stylistic chameleon and a jack of all trades when it comes to all stringed instruments, and Steve Cropper is a bona fide soul hero, both in the producer’s chair at Memphis’ Stax Records as well as wielder of the Telecaster for the legendary Booker T. and the M.G.’s.
