A pivotal member of the hugely important Flatt & Scruggs band, the Foggy Mountain Boys, Josh Graves (1927-2006) was deeply influenced by both the blues and early country music. Universally acknowledged as the father of the bluegrass Dobro, Graves created musical patterns followed by subsequent generations of players. In his later career he collaborated with recording and performing artists in a number of genres. Fred Bartenstein, editor of Bluegrass Bluesman: A Memoir by Josh Graves, and Tim Graves, master resophonic guitarist and nephew of Josh Graves, will present a program on Josh Graves's life, music, and significance.
