East Nashville Underground Spring 2013 Festival Friday Show
East Nashville’s only — at least, as far as we can tell — quarterly local-music mini-festival returns this week for its seventh installment as “The East Nashville Underground,” and final installment at the inconspicuous (read: underground?) venue on Gallatin Avenue, The East Room. As per usual, the lineup features a genre grab bag. Friday night’s bill is rock-heavy, with slated performances from Kings of Leon protégés The Weeks, Stiff Records-channeling power-pop Scene fave Evan P. Donohue, vocal-harmony-boasting pop-rockers The Kicks, slick post-punks The Young International and more. Saturday’s lineup is all over the map, with a day show featuring indie-country outfits like the ever-clever Little Bandit and traditionalist Derek Hoke, as well as nighttime performances from surf-pop outfit *Repeat Repeat, flashy pop hedonist Brandon Jazz, genre-melding rapper Chancellor Warhol, alt-rockers The Kingston Springs and more. There’s also brunch, T-shirts, drinks and a whole host of performers I didn’t mention here — look ’em up on Facebook — so get underground to catch the haps before they migrate somewhere, you know, above ground.
