Tennessee Jazz and Blues Society present
Masters of the Guitar feat. Stanley Jordan & Muriel AndersonJazz
Muriel Anderson and Stanley Jordan's distinctive approaches to fingerstyle guitar playing reflect their different backgrounds and influences, but they share a brilliance and virtuosity within that style that sets them apart from most of their peers. Anderson has won a national championship in fingerstyle competition, and has recorded 13 albums that showcase her versatility and acumen with folk, country, bluegrass, classical or jazz. She's currently cutting her 14th album locally with very special guest Stanley Jordan. Jordan uses a two-hand tapping technique that enables him to play two melodic lines simultaneously, or improvise on two guitars, similar to the way the late Rahsaan Roland Kirk played multiple saxophones at the same time. Jordan's also explored music's therapeutic side, and is a member of the American Music Therapy Association. Anderson and Jordan will be featured in concert at the Nashville Jazz Workshop's Jazz Cave in both solo and duo performances. This event begins the Tennessee Jazz & Blues Society's 2013 membership drive. All those attending the concert will be eligible for discounted memberships and membership renewals.
