Dirty Water: Benefit for Boston Marathon Bombing Victims feat. Apollo Up!, Brett Rosenberg, Larissa Maestro and the Melrose Place Band, Drug Buddiez & DJ Sean MaloneyPop/Rock
Boston has given us quite a lot, and I’m not just talking about a distinctive dialect or eating seafood while watching baseball. Besides being a bastion of the arts with one of the most revered symphony halls on the planet, The Olde Towne has birthed and nurtured a wide variety of popular music: Aerosmith, New Edition, The Pixies — the list goes on. The casualties from an attack like the bombing at the Boston Marathon are horrific and senseless, and the victims and their families will be in need long after the danger is past. Our fair city boasts more than a few personalities with a deep connection to Boston, and they have teamed up with the folks at Mercy Lounge to help Music City give a little back. All proceeds from the event will go to the One Fund, set up by Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick and Boston Mayor Thomas Menino. A silent auction is in the works, and the evening’s entertainment will feature familiar locals performing favorite Beantown tunes, including Apollo Up taking on Mission of Burma, Larissa Maestro and the Melrose Place Band covering Letters to Cleo, and Quichenight’s Brett Rosenberg performing satirical classics from Tom Lehrer. DJ and Scene contributor “Bawston” Sean Maloney will man the decks.
