The Cult w/White Hills

Pop/Rock
Nashville Scene Critic's Pick …

New York space-rock trio White Hills had their sights set on distant galaxies with last year’s Frying on This Rock. Later this month, they’re following that up with So You Are … So You’ll Be, which keeps things a little closer to this solar system — meaning that the longest songs are a little closer to eight minutes rather than 15 this time around. Their heavy psychedelia opens the night for The Cult. The last time we heard from Cult lead singer Ian Astbury, he was collaborating with Japanese doom metal band Boris. Last time we heard him before that, we were probably revisiting “Rain.” The Cult’s cock-rocking days had their bright spots, but the band’s heavy, gothy post-punk era is where it’s at.
