Nashville Scene Critic's Pick …

Nashville’s own Theron Denson (aka Black Diamond) lays claim to the unique distinction of being the world’s only black Neil Diamond impersonator. But Denson takes on the Jewish Elvis persona and croons classic Diamond staples like “Sweet Caroline” and “Cracklin’ Rosie” with enough uncanny, twinkle-eyed panache and glittering, rhinestone-studded sequined shirts to render any audience colorblind. He’s now backed by stellar soulful locals the Kansas Bible Company. Even KISS Army soldiers who come to the show erroneously expecting to see a different cover band by the name of Black Diamond are bound to saunter out of Marathon Village singing “I’m a Believer,” as satisfied as Stephen King during a seventh-inning stretch at Fenway Park.
