Mercy Lounge presents

Everest w/Courtney Jaye, Aaron Lee Tasjan

Nashville Scene Critic's Pick …

Led by Russell Pollard of Sebadoh, The Folk Implosion and others, L.A.-based Everest is a quintet of songwriters and multi-instrumentalists pulling together toward songs that resonate on a personal level with a large and diverse audience. Their 2012 full-length Ownerless, their first on ATO Records, finds them sometimes struggling to define their own sound, but yields some nice surprises as they experiment with blurring the lines between folk, rock and pop. Based in Nashville by way of the rest of the U.S., songstress Courtney Jaye consistently draws with top-notch players, and their collaboration on her latest, Love and Forgiveness, has produced a distinctive amalgam of vintage AM pop, classic country and a little Hawaiian slack-key. Rounding out the bill is Aaron Lee Tasjan, a guitar man who’s earned his chops working with groups as diverse as the reunited New York Dolls and Drivin’ N Cryin’, but whose recent country songwriting success is pushing him towards a well-suited position at the front of the stage.
