Jerry Castle Album Release

Nashville Scene Critic's Pick …

After first fronting the Virginia jam band Toast with his sister, then trying his hand at radio promotion and pro songsmithing, Jerry Castle has settled into making independent East Nashville roots rock. And you know what that means: original songwriting with a touch of defiant underdog attitude and the usual cast of casually accomplished supporting players, among them guitarist Audley Freed and game-elevating backup singers The McCrary Sisters. Castle’s latest, Desperate Parade, even closes with a meat-and-potatoes critique of the star-making machine, complete with references to Music Row, neon lights and in-the-rounds. But for a guy who’s familiar with industry-outsider ground, he’s got pretty great pop chops. Check out the hooky-as-hell “My Style of Crazy,” which even boasts sax solos from Bobby Keys
