Paper Route w/HalfNoisePop/Rock
After spending the first part of 2013 on the road with pop rockers Imagine Dragons and Anberlin, local dudes Paper Route are headlining their own U.S. tour with support from HalfNoise, featuring ex-Paramore drummer Zac Farro. The pairing makes sense on a number of levels, not least of which is that Paper Route spent a good deal of time globetrotting with Paramore during Farro’s tenure behind the kit. But the two acts also complement each other musically, with HalfNoise’s minimal, Jimmy Tamborello-esque pop serving a nice counterpoint to Paper Route’s maximalist New Wave. One discerns fairly quickly that both acts have similar points of reference — experimental pop, IDM, that sort of thing — though they allow those influences to color their work in substantially different ways. The tour continues Paper Route’s promotion of The Peace of Wild Things, the trio’s second full-length and first without the support of a major. Which, all things considered, seems to have had little to no effect on the band’s ability to continue its impressive run.
