J.P. Harris and Joe FletcherPop/Rock
J.P. Harris, known locally as “The Hipster Bob Vila” (he built Fond Object’s record bins), writes the kind of great country songs that wear a weathered and beery coat of varnish in place of pop-country polish — and he makes us want to dance to them, too. Harris returns to home turf after rolling down the East Coast with Joe Fletcher, a versatile roots-rock songwriter from Providence, R.I., who will curate a night of Nashville music at this year’s Newport Folk Festival. Either artist would be a fun and raucous watch on his own, but seeing how they’ve rubbed off on each other after sharing a band and a van for a month should be a special treat.
