St. Paul and the Broken Bones w/DeRobert and the Half-Truths & Star and Micey
Music critics don’t tend to be the most patient people in the world. If there’s a buzzy new album on the way, we want to hear it now. Both Alabama’s St. Paul and the Broken Bones — purveyors of hot, hard-edged, Southern-fried soul — and hometown hero horn band DeRobert and the Half-Truths — whose agile lead singer is currently cultivating his neo-soul sensibilities and leaning away from retro stuff — have albums in the can. Since it’s looking like the Broken Bones’ full-length debut may not be out on Single Lock Records until early next year, and the Half-Truths’ label home G.E.D. Soul Records is just now wrapping up a Kickstarter campaign to help get the vinyl pressed, the thing to do in the meantime is go hear ’em live, with Memphis folk-poppers Star and Micey sharing the bill.
