Lark's Tongue, Across Tundras, Tanks & Brother Ares

Pop/Rock
Nashville Scene Critic's Pick …

This one has been a long time coming — ever since Illinois psych-outfit Lark’s Tongue dropped their split LP with Across Tundras in April, we’ve been jonesing to see them live. LT’s music is epic in scope, and their songs are profoundly melodic and beautiful. It’s really the perfect fit for a sweaty summer night. Paired with Across Tundras’ heavy, dusty psych-cowboy grooves, it makes for an incredibly exciting auditory experience — and we can only assume it’s even better live and at maximum volume. Speaking of maximum volume, have you heard Memphis prog-punks Tanks yet? Humminahumminahummina, they really get our jets revving — and how could they not with 27-minute-long tracks of unremitting rock ’n’ roll? Brother Ares, the Scene’s beloved experimental doom-metal duo, rounds out the night’s bill.
