MarchOne, Full Circle & Georgia Theatre present
Sure, we’ve been known to make fun of Berklee College of Music grads — mostly right after they bring our dinner order to the table — but we’ll admit that sometimes the school produces some killer musicians. Case in point: monster-funk outfit Lettuce, who manage to channel some of the grooviest vibes this side of Maurice White. These guys are arbiters of the true-school sound, creating jazzed-up, funked-out sounds that connect the dots between soul and hip-hop and all the points in between. In the two decades since it first sprouted, Lettuce has carved out a niche that bridges the beat-junkies, the jam-kids and the record nerds, helping to launch the funk revival and foment a scene that’s as vital today as it ever was. And this all happened — if you’ll pardon the pun — organically, with Lettuce building a reputation as one of the most entrancing and exciting live bands on the planet.
