Bombino w/Nikki Lane, Fly Golden Eagle, DJ Dan Auerbach & more
Last year, nomadic Nigerian guitarist Bombino found a collaborator in Nashville’s own Dan Auerbach. The two worked together at Auerbach’s Music City-based Easy Eye Sound System, and the result — titled Nomad, naturally — is an excellent long player that fuses the electric-blues style of Bombino’s Tuareg people with the sort of thick blues-pop production Auerbach has long been dialing in as the voice of The Black Keys. With Bombino in Tennessee for a pair of performances at Bonnaroo this weekend (see cover story on p. 15), he’s booked a Nashville show with a pair of Scene faves: local country songstress Nikki Lane and psychedelic soul-garage troupe Fly Golden Eagle. What’s more, Auerbach is set to DJ the gig, Otaku South and Barista Parlor will deliver food and drink (respectively), and tickets (which cost $20) guarantee you free bowling and pool all night long. Who needs Bonnaroo when you can swim in cyclical psych-blues grooves and bowl to your heart’s content, am I right? Expect the hippest Nashville hang of the month.
