Happy Salmon Productions Presents
Morning Teleportation w/Desert Noises & Black Sea Royalty
Energetic, upbeat and tightly wound, Morning Teleportation seems fixed on the idea that music should be fun, engaging and free from heavy-handed introspection. The band members avoid taking themselves or their art too seriously, eschewing the melodrama and overt emotional weight that has recently plagued many of their rock ’n’ roll brethren. In other words, Morning Teleportation writes indie pop for the people — fun music to dance to and sing along with alone in your car. The band’s 2011 effort Expanding Anyway would fit well in your CD-changer (if you still have one) alongside The Modern Lovers, Modest Mouse or Teenage Fanclub. The group’s clear-eyed guitar-driven songs, lively but not exhausting, seem well-suited for this last month of summer. Show openers Desert Noises echo Moby Grape’s sunflower power pop and Crosby, Stills and Nash’s hedonism and hippie ethos. The night should prove the perfect comedown from your summer sprawl.
