The Silver Seas Album Release w/Odessa Rose & The Breedings
Consistency is not the world’s most marketable or buzz-building quality in a band, which is probably why The Silver Seas often get overlooked alongside Nashville’s arena-scale exports and blog bait of the moment. Despite the fact that their moniker has changed over the years — from The Bees to The Bees (U.S.) to its current incarnation — singer-songwriter Daniel Tashian, producer-keyboardist Jason Lehning and drummer David Gehrke have cruised along for roughly the past decade, continuously crafting first-rate AM pop. (What’s more, as the progeny of husband-and-wife songwriting duo Barry and Holly Tashian and super producer Kyle Lehning respectively, Tashian and Lehning are both carrying on the family business.) Alaska is the Seas’ fourth studio album, recorded here with Joe Pisapia in a matter of days, with an accompanying music video shot throughout the halls and food court of Opry Mills mall. No surprise that this 10-song set offers plenty of soft-sell melodic pleasures.
