The Whites w/special guests Buddy Greene & Jeff TaylorBluegrass
By now, Sharon White Skaggs and her husband of 32 years, Ricky Skaggs, are so tightly linked in the public mind — the couple were, for instance, recent recipients of the Uncle Dave Macon Days’ Heritage Award — that it’s easy to forget that the former’s regular performing metier is with dad Buck and sis Cheryl. They don’t play a lot in town outside of Opry appearances, which makes this “Bluegrass Central” appearance a treat — though any opportunity to hear them gracefully ramble through a catalog that ranges from Western swing to bluegrass, and from Carter Family favorites to their acoustic country hits from the ’80s, really fits that description. The singing is always top-notch, and Buck White in particular is an underappreciated mandolin master, and pretty dang good at tickling the ivories, too. Add equally graceful and understated masters Buddy Greene and Jeff Taylor, and that’s a whole lot of delicious music all in one place.
