Marathon Village Engine Block Party w/Vintage Trouble & NoiseFloor
Nashville Scene Critic's Pick …
For a brief period before World War I, Marathon Motor Works hummed with activity, churning out cars built by hand from parts manufactured on-site — you might even call them artisanal. Though the massive brick compound was silent for much of the past century, it’s become a bustling hub of creative activity (especially in recent years) with a hand-crafted aesthetic, chock-a-block with multimedia production companies, art and fashion studios, and more. The tenants of Marathon Village celebrate tonight with a block party, featuring a Neighborhood Vendor Village where you can pick up some of the local wares, a food court populated by your favorite food trucks, and live music on two stages. Outside at Marathon Music Works will be a buffet of soul, rock and more, including locals DeRobert and The Half-Truths and Kansas Bible Company, accompanied by Athens, Ga.’s Futurebirds and L.A.’s Vintage Trouble, who’ve recently toured supporting The Who and The Rolling Stones. Inside, it’s a dark and stormy dance party with Heroes and Villains from Atlanta, Music City’s own Future Unlimited and Five Knives, and San Diego’s Noise Floor topping it off.
