Cia Cherryholmes, Jeremy Garrett, Sierra Hull, Josh Shilling and Jon Weisberger
Bluegrass songwriters are, more often than not, bluegrass instrumentalists, too--sometimes they're even world-class pickers. So it was only a matter of time before a group of songwriters with their musical roots in bluegrass (and more!) decided to replace the standard-issue songwriter round/guitar pull format of writers strumming guitars with band arrangements of their original material that not only highlights the songs themselves, but the other musical dimensions of the folks that wrote them, too.
As Nashville Scene writer Jewly Hight put it last year, this group is "a five-way collaboration between top-flight contemporary bluegrass songwriting talent," including IBMA award winners and Grammy nominees whose music ranges from hard-driving bluegrass to acoustic pop ballads, newgrass and even blues-rock rave-ups. Its members:
Cia Cherryholmes Adkisson (Cherryholmes, Songs Of The Fall) on banjo; Jeremy Garrett (Infamous Stringdusters), fiddle/guitar; Sierra Hull (Sierra Hull & Highway 111), mandolin/guitar; Josh Shilling (Mountain Heart), guitar/keyboards; Jon Weisberger (Chris Jones & The Night Drivers), bass.
Colleagues, friends and collaborators whose musical connections are too many and too tangled to easily describe, this bluegrass songwriters' band offers a song-centeredshow that, even in a songwriter's town, stands out as something unique.
Come enjoy this great night of music at The Fiddle House. Please call The Fiddle House to reserve your seats at (615)730-8402 as space is very limited.
