Denney and the Jets w/Music Band

Nashville Scene Critic's Pick …

Debate continues over whether soft drinks imported from south of the border really taste better, but there’s no doubt that Chris Denney’s new album Mexican Coke — due in the spring as a split release from Limited Fanfare and Burger Records — aims right for the sweet spot with nimble and gritty Beggar’s Banquet-inspired riffing. Before he goes into hibernation for the winter, Denney gives us one last show, complemented by friends from the rotating cast who have made up The Jets in recent months. Brooklyn transplants Clear Plastic Masks, who backed Denney on the forthcoming album, are on hand with searing, bluesy cuts from their own soon-to-be-released LP. Battered ’n’ fried psych-punks Music Band round out the bill with more of the new tunes they played when they shared the stage with Those Darlins in October.
