Gabe Dixon

Nashville Scene Critic's Pick …

Gabe Dixon famously turned down a spot in Paul McCartney’s touring band to focus on his own thing, the piano-driven Gabe Dixon Band, which he fronted for a decade. After going solo in 2009, he subsequently had a baby, played with Supertramp, and released his solo debut, 2011’s One Spark, produced by Marshall Altman and featuring collaborations with Alison Krauss, former Semisonic frontman Dan Wilson and former members of Brit bands Snow Patrol and Starsailor. Like McCartney, Dixon is a master of melody — evidenced in his beautiful “All Will Be Well” — and he’s not too shabby on the keys, either. Fresh off a solo tour with fellow Nashvillian Dave Barnes, Dixon will play a full-band show, so expect a bunch of crowd pleasers that will be stuck in your head for the rest of the weekend.
